Fatigue Analysis
Teck provides fatigue analysis of equipment, components and welded structures that have chronic cracking problems or premature failures due to metal fatigue caused by cyclic stress. This typically involves a detailed technical review of the problem, measurements and photographs, computer simulations and preparation of drawings and specifications for corrective measures.
In addition, we provide design of cyclically loaded welded structures, machinery and components to avoid premature failure due to metal fatigue.
Teck uses computer stress simulation tools such as finite element methods to estimate cyclic stress levels of components and structures. We apply fracture mechanics principles to estimate the crack growth rates and the critical crack size at fracture. Our methods are industry proven and are used in conjunction with our practical experience with cyclically loaded structures, machinery reliability engineering, and failure analyses involving metal fatigue.
Material selection that takes into consideration the operating conditions and temperature is also provided, to ensure that the materials are suitable for the service conditions.
We provide
