Energy Studies

Teck is a member of the BC Hydro Alliance of Energy Professionals. We assist our industrial clients to find opportunities to save energy, to install energy-efficient equipment, and to potentially obtain financial incentives through BC Hydro’s Power Smart Program.

We provide the following services
  • Plant-wide energy audit
  • End-use assessments
  • Energy efficiency feasibility studies
  • Low-carbon electrification studies

A plant-wide energy audit is a high-level investigation that identifies systems or practices that offer the most efficient, cost effective upgrade opportunity in a facility. The audit outlines specific aspects of the facility’s energy consumption, and tips on low and/or no cost upgrades that can be implemented immediately.

An end-use assessment is a high level, pre-screen assessment to identify whether a more intensive study, such as an energy efficiency feasibility study, is worth conducting to confirm energy savings potential of a system.

An energy efficiency feasibility study is a detailed analysis of a specific system in a facility that has potential for significant energy savings. The detailed report prepared assists clients in building a business case to proceed with an upgrade project that may lead to financial incentives through the Power Smart Program.

A low-carbon electrification study is completed when there are opportunities to use electrical power instead of fossil fuels. The main focus of this study is to identify and implement projects that move away from fossil fuel powered equipment to reduce greenhouse gases by using BC Hydro generated electrical power with a much smaller carbon footprint.
